Kyle Lafferty makes transfer decision as ex-Hearts hero heads abroad again

Former Hearts star Kyle Lafferty has agreed a deal to join Cypriot outfit Anorthosis Famagusta after leaving Kilmarnock.

The striker was linked with a return to Tynecastle but it was never an option that looked likely and he's now decided to head abroad again.

It's the latest step in a career that has saw him regularly ply his trade abroad between spells in Scotland with Hearts, Rangers and Kilmarnock.

He's signed a one-year deal with the Cypriot side, who are managed by former Dundee midfielder Temur Ketsbaia who is in his second spell at the club.

The Northern Irishman spent a season at Hearts and scored 19 goals in 41 games before eventually returning to Rangers in a move that failed to work.

He then joined Norwegian side Sarpsborg before a move to Sunderland and then back to Italy with Reggina.

He joined Kilmarnock in February and scored 13 goals in 13 games but was unable to stop them from being relegated.

That led to a public row between Lafferty and the club as he criticised their claim that he turned down a deal, saying he had held no talks.

Kilmarnock then retaliated insisting he had asked for four times more wages than he had been on in the Premiership.
