Kyle Lafferty has left Kilmarnock by mutual consent on transfer deadline day.
The Rugby Park side announced this evening that the Northern Irish striker had left the club in a very brief statement.
A club spokesman said: "It’s with regret that Kyle Lafferty and Kilmarnock Football Club have parted company by mutual consent. We thank Kyle for his service to the club."
Lafferty had only recently completed a 10-game ban for the use of a sectarian comment while on international duty.
The 35-year-old was sent home from Northern Ireland's camp after a clip appeared on social media of a sectarian comment made by him, and a club investigation was subsequently launched.
Lafferty, who has netted for Killie three times this season, apologised for his behaviour and was hit in the pocket by the club with a substantial fine.
The first game Lafferty was eligible for was Kilmarnock's League Cup semi-final clash against Celtic at Hampden on January 14, which the Ayrshire side lost 2-0.
Lafferty made a huge impact at Rugby Park in his first stint at the club in 2021 when he hit the back of the net eight times in nine games.
His efforts weren't enough to keep Killie form beating the drop in a play-off with Dundee and the hitman left the club at the end of the season.
His second term, this time under Derek McInnes, has proved less fruitful, scoring nine goal in 24 games.
