Kyle Lafferty agrees two-year deal with Italian Serie B side

Kyle Lafferty is returning to Italy after agreeing a two-year contract with Serie B side Reggina.

The Northern Ireland striker is expected to complete the deal over the weekend.

Lafferty was released by Sunderland after the EFL League One season was brought to a premature end due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The 32-year held talks with Reggina's sporting director Massimo Taibi - the former Manchester United goalkeeper - before agreeing terms.

Reggina have shown a statement of intent in the transfer market with the capture of former AC Milan and Roma winger Jeremy Menez.

Lafferty previously played for Palermo in Italy. He has also had clubs in Switzerland, Turkey, Norway, England and Scotland.
