Kyle Kuzma (stress reaction) will not play Tuesday vs. Clippers

Although the Los Angeles Lakers season begins tomorrow against the Los Angeles Clippers, they will be without one of their key pieces for the coming season in the opener.

It shouldn’t be a surprise but it is news that Kyle Kuzma is now officially out for Tuesday’s game against the Clippers as he continues to recover from a stress reaction he suffered in the summer playing for Team USA. Kuzma was cleared to practice in non-contact situations just over a week ago but his status has yet to be updated beyond that.

If it’s the case that Kuzma is still not practicing in contact situations, my experience in covering these things for eight years is that he will probably be another week. Usually teams like to get players to practice before they play and if he hasn’t done a full practice yet with full-contact, seeing him play a real game doesn’t seem likely for at least a little while longer.

Meanwhile, guard Alex Caruso’s status for Tuesday is up in the air as he is currently dealing with a bone bruise in his pelvis.
