Kyle Kuzma (foot) will sit during China trip, out indefinitely

The Los Angeles Lakers will be without a key figure in their future as they sort through a get-to-know-you period with a brand new team. While Kyle Kuzma downplayed reports about him missing the start of the Lakers training camp, the team finally came clean that the third year forward isn’t going to play in the first stretch of the preseason nor will he play in during the team’s trip to China when they face off against the Brooklyn Nets.

According to Tania Ganguli of the Los Angeles Times, Kuzma will still make the trip to China.

The team announced that there won’t be a follow-up MRI until the team returns from China in the middle of October. He will also miss out on opportunities to play with Anthony Davis or other new players on the Lakers. But the best thing going for Kuzma is that even though he’s hurt, he still has first-hand experience playing next to and off-of LeBron.

While it’s a drawback for the Lakers in the short-term, the most encouraging thing about the situation is that Kuzma is rather adept at adapting.
