Kyle Kuzma expected to make his season debut Friday at Mavericks

Things are good for the Los Angeles Lakers and on Friday they will get even better as they are now expected to get Kyle Kuzma back in uniform when they face off against a strong Dallas Mavericks squad to begin a three-game road trip.

Kuzma got a full practice in on Wednesday with the South Bay Lakers and the results must have been encouraging. The Athletic’s Shams Charania reported a few minutes ago that Kuzma will make his season debut on Friday after missing the last two months recovering from a stress reaction. But judging by the wording Charania used, don’t expect Kuzma to start right away.

Kuzma himself expected that he would come off the bench during off the season, even though he does envision himself as the team’s third star. The Lakers have been one of the best teams in the league to start the season and through four games, they’re the only team to rank in the top-10 in offensive rating and defensive rating.

Kuzma will come off the bench at first but he could very well work his way into a bigger role quickly, as he has during his first two NBA seasons. But no matter where he starts, it’s clear the Lakers are getting an extra boost of firepower to help them sustain what’s been a great start to Season 2 of the LeBron James Era.
