May 29--Kyle Hendricks fired a complete-game as the Cubs topped the Phillies 4-1 on Saturday at Wrigley Field. The win marked the Cubs' fourth consecutive victory and improved their record to 33-14 on the season.
At the plate
Ben Zobrist and Jason Heyward each went 2-for-4 with an RBI and Dexter Fowler homered for the Cubs. Miguel Montero also knocked in a run. Zobrist extended his 14-game hitting streal with a first-inning double that scored Heyward.
On the mound
Hendricks allowed five hits while striking out seven Phillies. The veteran right-hander did not walk a batter.
In the field
Zobrist and Heyward allowed a fly ball by Freddy Galvis to drop between them in the ninth and that eventually led to the Phillies' only run.
The quote
"Every year ... every staff there's one guy who never gets any runs regardless of how well he pitches. We'll just continue to take his performances as they are and try to score runs." -- Cubs manager Joe Maddon on Hendricks
