Third seed Kyle Edmund continued his preparations for next week's US Open by reaching the quarter-finals of the Winston-Salem Open.
Great Britain's Edmund, ranked 16 in the world, was a straight-sets winner over Spain's Roberto Carballes Baena in North Carolina.
Edmund edged a tight first set by breaking Carballes Baena for 6-5 before serving it out.
The 23-year-old had three break points early in the second set but was unable to convert.
However, at 5-5 Edmund repeated the trick from the opening set and went on to wrap up a 7-5 7-5 victory in one hour and 31 minutes.
Nicolas Jarry, the 14th seed from Chile, is also in the last eight after beating German Jan-Lennard Struff 6-2 6-2.
Gilles Simon, the French 12th seed, pulled out of his delayed second-round match with Ryan Harrison of the United States due to a back injury.
Harrison then faced Filip Krajinovic, overcoming the Serbian in a clinical first set 6-3 and prevailing in a second-set tie-break 7-6 (7/4) to book his quarter-final place against Daniil Medvedev.
Pablo Carreno Busta, who played two matches in one day, first bypassed Franko Skugor before saving five break points to overcome number 16 seed Peter Gojowczyk 6-3 7-6 (7/5).
He will now face Hyeon Chung in the last eight after the South Korean defeated Italian Matteo Berrettini 6-3 3-6 6-3. Number eight seed Steve Johnson beat Spaniard Jaume Munar 6-4 6-4 to face Edmund on Thursday.
In the biggest upset of the day, Taro Daniel knocked out second seed Sam Querrey, then progressed through the third round after beating lucky loser Dominik Koepfer 7-6 (7/4) 7-6 (7/3).
