Kyle Daniels trial hears child sobbed when she told mother swim coach touched her in 'secret' way

A Sydney court has heard a child sobbed while telling her mother a swimming coach put his hand under her clothes and indecently assaulted her at least four times.

Kyle Daniels, 22, is on trial accused of abusing nine young girls at the Mosman Swim Centre between February 2018 and 2019.

He has pleaded not guilty to 26 charges including sexual intercourse with a child under 10 and the sexual touching of a child.

The mother of one of the girls, the fifth complainant, told Downing Centre District Court her daughter broke down while describing how the coach touched her under her bathers at least four times.

The woman said her daughter felt "creeped out" by Daniels when he touched her in a "secret" way.

She said she took notes about what her daughter told her and called police.

"I put my arms around her and said, 'you have done nothing wrong, it’s not your fault'," the woman told the court.

In one police interview played to the court, the woman’s daughter told police Mr Daniels touched her "private areas" in a swimming pool.

In another police interview, the girl said she couldn't prove some of her claims about him.

The mother and daughter can't be named for legal reasons.

The court has previously heard Mr Daniels told his bosses it could have been "an accident" if he did inappropriately touch another young girl.

Mr Daniels is on bail and was arrested in March 2019.

His trial before Judge Kara Shead continues.
