In-form Kwanchai Tannin captured his third All Thailand Golf Tour title with a two-stroke victory at the three-million-baht Singha All Thailand Championship yesterday.
The 33-year-old, who had a three-shot advantage after three rounds, closed with a second straight 69 to win on 22-under 266 at the Suwan Golf and Country Club in Nakhon Pathom.
Itthipat Buranatanyarat, who fired bogey-free seven-under 65, finished second on 20 under while Phachara Khongwatmai, who won three times on the All Thailand Golf Tour, bogeyed the last two holes for a 68 and finished third on 19 under. "I was a bit under pressure after a double-bogey, which reduced my lead to two. Phachara is a long hitter and could have caught up with me," said Kwanchai, a native of Hua Hin, whose round included six birdies, one double bogey and a bogey.
"This course is not that long and I can play a short iron, which suits my game. However, it was not until on the 18th fairway that I felt confident I could win."
Kwanchai, the first multiple winner on the All Thailand Golf Tour this year, took home 450,000 baht for his second ATGT win of the year and five world ranking points. His previous wins were at Singha Pattaya Open 2013 and Singha Chiang Mai Open 2019.
Runner-up Itthipat got 277,500 baht while Phachara received 171,000 baht at the tournament, the eighth leg of the 2019 ATGT calendar.
Poosit, who fired a first-round 62, shot a 69 to share fourth place with South Korea's Kim Joo-Hyung (70). Pavit Tangkamolprasert, who won last year, was sixth.
Nopparat Nanichaphol was the low amateur and claimed the Maphuengphong award. He closed with a 66 for a 15-under 273 and shared seventh with Chapchai Nirat (67).
The next leg will be the Singha All Thailand Memorial 2019 at the Chatrium Golf Resort Soi Dao, Chanthaburi, on July 4-7.
