Rangers are one of a number of clubs chasing a move for Rochdale youngster Kwadwo Baah, according to a report.
The 18-year-old is out of contract in the summer and Rangers are said to be looking to sign him this month with Rochdale willing to sell.
But they face stiff competition with a host of European and English clubs also interested in signing the winger.
The Athletic say Baah has bids on the table and Juventus, Bayern Munich and West Ham are also interested in signing him.
Rochdale are willing to let him go in January instead of losing him for nothing in six months.
The German born winger can play on either side and is eligible to play for Germany, England and Ghana.
Rangers have already made two pre-contract signings in this window with Scott Wright and Jack Simpson both agreeing deals with the Ibrox side.
They are also looking to sign Bournemouth’s Nnamdi Ofoborh on a free.
Earlier this week, Steven Gerrard admitted he was hoping for news on more signings.
He said: "There’s no other news in terms of ins or outs right now, where I’m sitting.
"We’re hoping to have some more news in the coming days with certain situations we’ve been looking into but right now I can’t really give you any more on that."
