KUWTK was cancelled because Kim and her family were fed up with long hours

Keeping Up with the Kardashians is finally coming to an end after 14 years on-screen, and the real reason it's going off-air has been revealed.

It's claimed the Kardashian-Jenner clan knew they are famous with or without the show and were fed up with filming for long hours.

A source told Us Weekly : "The ladies were done with long hours and think they are famous enough without the show to make all their money online."

The family have their own successful businesses separate from the show: Kim Kardashian has her SKIMS underwear line, Khloe has her Good American clothing brand, Kourtney has her website Poosh and Kylie Jenner runs her cosmetics company.

They want to focus more on their companies than a TV show, which documents every moment of their personal lives.

The source added: "They're business people first and foremost, and it's very obvious to those around them who are in the know that they can make a ton more for a lot less hassle by pursuing opportunities elsewhere."

But that doesn't mean they'll be gone from our TV screens forever.

The insider continued: "Right now, they all want a break to consider their options, and that will include spinoff possibilities with [KUWTK executive producer] Ryan Seacrest involved because they're still incredibly loyal and grateful to him as well as the network."

The show started in 2007 and catapulted the family to fame.

It was announced last week that the next season of the show will be the last.

In a statement they shared to social media, the family said: "To our amazing fans, it is with heavy hearts that we've made the difficult decision as a family to say goodbye to Keeping Up with the Kardashians.

"After what will be 14 years, 20 seasons, hundreds of episodes and numerous spin-off shows, we are beyond grateful to all of you who've watched us for all of these years – through the good times, the bad times, the happiness, the tears, and the many relationships and children."
