A Kuwaiti Foreign Ministry delegation and Iraqi officials discussed in Baghdad on Tuesday issues of common interest.
The Kuwaiti delegation, which was headed by Deputy Foreign Minister Khaled al-Jarallah, discussed with the Iraqi Foreign Ministry officials ways to develop bilateral relations.
Talks also focused on preparations for the seventh session of the Kuwaiti-Iraqi Joint Higher Committee, which is scheduled to take place in Kuwait soon.
The Kuwaiti delegation included Kuwait’s Ambassador to Iraq Salem al-Zamanan, Assistant Foreign Minister for Deputy Foreign Minister's office Ambassador Ayham al-Omar, Assistant Foreign Minister for Legal Affairs Ghanim al-Ghanim and Deputy Assistant Foreign Minister for Legal Affairs Salem al-Shibli.
The Iraqi team, which was headed by Foreign Ministry Undersecretary Nizar Khairallah, included the minister’s adviser, Mohammed Hamoud, Head of Arab department Ambassador Ismail Shafiq and Representative of the Ministry of Transport Marine Captain Karim Jabbar.
Before heading to Baghdad, Jarallah said his visit fell in line with Kuwait’s keenness to follow-up on the talks held during the recent visit of the Iraqi Foreign Ministry Undersecretary.
In his press remarks, Jarallah stressed that Baghdad is also keen on maintaining a similar level of communication with Kuwait to develop bilateral relations.
“Many topics in need of coordination will be discussed during this visit,” he affirmed, saying it will be a chance for both parties to address many issues that serve the two countries’ interests.
He added that he will also meet with Khairallah, who has earlier visited Kuwait and held talks with Kuwaiti officials.
