Kuwait's Emir Undergoes Successful Surgery

Kuwait's Emir Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad al-Sabah. KUNA

Kuwait's Emir Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad al-Sabah underwent successful surgery on Sunday morning, his office said in a statement carried by state news agency KUNA.

He was admitted to hospital on Saturday for medical checks.

The Emir's designated successor Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf al-Ahmed al-Sabah took over some of the ruler's constitutional duties on Saturday temporarily.
