
Kuwait registered on Tuesday 55 new coronavirus cases, taking the country’s total to 1,355.
Health Ministry spokesman Dr. Abdullah al-Sanad also confirmed one death from the disease.
He said three of the new cases were linked to Kuwaitis who had traveled to the United Kingdom. One Kuwaiti contracted the disease in France. The nationals had recently been repatriated after they were stranded abroad.
Forty-three patients contracted the disease after coming in contact with other, he added, revealing that the virus was detected among two Kuwaiti nationals, 26 Indian, four Bangladeshi, three Pakistani and three Egyptian residents among others.
The latest fatality was 79-year-old Kuwaiti woman, who had been in intensive care for four days. A Kuwaiti man, 50, passed away on Monday after 21 days in intensive care.
Sanad said a total of 176 patients have recovered.
Twenty-six patients are currently in intensive care and 17 are in stable condition.
