
Kuwait’s non-oil exports dropped 4.9 percent in July compared to the same month last year, according to the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
The number of non-oil Kuwaiti certificates of origin amounted to 515 certificates worth about $32 million compared to 543 certificates worth about $33.6 million in 2018, the Ministry said in a press statement on Monday.
Non-oil exports to the GCC reached 1,022 certificates valued at $14.8 million, with Qatar issuing 239 certificates worth about $6 million, followed by the UAE with 257 certificates worth about $3.9 million.
Saudi Arabia had 452 certificates worth about $ 3.8 million, Oman 40 certificates worth about $475,000, and Bahrain 34 certificates amounting to about $339,000.
Regarding the number of certificates issued to other Arab countries during the same month, the ministry said that it reached 398 certificates of about $19 million, compared to 456 certificates about $17 million during the same month of 2018.
Iraq came first with 82 certificates of about $9 million, then Jordan with 195 certificates worth about $3.9 million, followed by Egypt with 25 certificates worth about $1.5 million. Palestine came last with two certificates worth about $16,500.
The Ministry explained that exports to Arab countries included food products, liquid gases, tents, wool, household utensils, furniture, fiberglass, livestock, birds and so on.
The number of certificates of origin for exports to foreign countries last July reached 109 certificates valued at $12.5 million, down $1.9 million from the same month last year.
It pointed out that Turkey came first in this segment with 42 certificates worth $3.6 million, followed by Belgium with 11 certificates worth $2.3 million, Italy with 6 certificates amounting to about $1.9 million, and France with 13 certificates worth $1.7 million.
