
Speaker of Kuwait’s National Assembly Marzouq al-Ghanim announced the conclusion of the debriefing of the Deputy Premier and State Minister for Cabinet Affairs Anas al-Saleh.
MPs Mohammed Hayef and Mohammed al-Mutair submitted the questioning against Saleh which Ghanim said concluded without any support or objection, vote of no-confidence and recommendations from the Assembly.
Tensions have been high between the government and the National Assembly over a disagreement on important issues in the country, which led to a request to debrief Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber al-Mubarak, with the intention of some MPs to question a number of ministers.
The debriefing requests also included Information Minister Mohammed al-Jabri. A number MPs announced that they could question Defense Minister Sheikh Nasser al-Sabah and Interior Minister Sheikh Khalid al-Jarrah over issues related to their ministries.
The government announced its solidarity with the minister of information and the Minister of State for Youth Affairs Mohammad Nasser al-Jabri against his debriefing. MP Abdulkareem al-Kandari meanwhile, submitted a request to debrief the premier over his disapproval of the government performance.
Ghanim confirmed it will be discussed in the next parliament session.
Emir Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad al-Jaber al-Sabah sent a cable Tuesday to Saleh, congratulating him on renewed confidence at parliament. The Emir commended the minister’s efficient performance while replying to parliament queries, along with the elevated democratic practice which reflected the civilized image of the country.
