Haryana: Kurukshetra court sentence man to 20-year imprisonment for sexually assaulting 14-year-old boy

KURUKSHETRA: A Protection of Children Against Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act court in Haryana's Kurukshetra sentenced a man to 20 years of imprisonment with fine of Rs 25,000 for sexually assaulting a 14-year-old on Monday.

Deputy district attorney Bhupender Singh said that the court had convicted Goldy, who was booked under relevant sections of the POCSO Act and the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at Shahabad police station on September 11, 2020.

In his complaint, a man stated to the police that they are three brothers and his 14-year-old younger brother (survivor), was playing alone outside home on September 11, 2020.

“Goldy lured the boy and sexually assaulted him in the bathroom of a government school. The boy was threatened with dire consequences (to be killed) if he disclosed the incident to anyone,” said the complainant.

Goldy was arrested by Kurukshetra police on September 12, 2020 and was sent to the jail.

Now after two years, the court has awarded him 20 years of imprisonment under Section 4 (2) (punishment for penetrative sexual assault) of the POCSO Act and in default of fine payment, he will have to undergo additional imprisonment of nine years.

(The victim's identity has not been revealed to protect his privacy as per Supreme Court directives on cases related to sexual assault)
