Kurto calamity earns ALM Glory a draw against Macarthur

Macarthur boss Mile Sterjovski has leapt to the defence of experienced goalkeeper Filip Kurto after two calamitous howlers gifted Perth Glory a 2-2 draw on the road.

The Bulls No.1 made blunders for both of Glory's goals after Macarthur looked destined to walk away with a valuable home win at Campbelltown Sports Stadium on Friday.

Kurto was at fault for the opening goal in the 36th minute when he failed to cleanly save a Nicholas Pennington strike.

Goals from Mitch Duke and Callum Talbot put Macarthur back ahead and in the box seat to secure a win, until Glory made a late downfield charge.

Kurto rushed off his line to deal with a ball over the top and clattered into Jaiden Kucharski in the 91st minute.

While the goalkeeper was tangled up on the ground, the ball fell to Stefan Colakovski, who calmly steadied himself to finish into an empty goal and secure a draw for the Glory.

"I really feel for our players, because they deserved a lot more out of that game and they put in a lot of effort," Sterjovski said.

"He (Kurto) has been our saviour many times before in many games, and we'll allow him to have this one tonight.

"Hopefully it doesn't happen again because he's been great for us all season."

Sterjovski's side missed the chance to move into second place before embarking on their Asian Champions League Two campaign.

It will be interesting to see whether the Bulls boss sticks by Kurto or looks to reward back-up goalkeeper Alex Robinson.

Perth remain outside the top six despite Colakovski's late equaliser, but could be set for a period without two of their most lethal attacking outlets.

Tom Lawrence failed to finish Friday's match, while skipper Adam Taggart was ruled out with injury.

Perth host table-topping Newcastle next week.

"He (Lawrence) has got something going on the bottom of his foot. I can't elaborate, but it's a sore foot," said Perth coach Adam Griffiths.

"I think 'Taggs' should be OK for the next game. He had an issue with some sort of muscle within his glute."
