Kurt Zouma suffers fresh West Ham injury blow as Darren Randolph edges towards Bournemouth move

West Ham United centre-back Kurt Zouma has suffered a fresh injury blow following his return after knee surgery.

Zouma made his first appearance in over two months during the Hammers ’ 2-0 win over Everton at the London Stadium, having had surgery in November shortly after the season paused for the 2022 World Cup.

The French centre-back was seemingly struggling with a hamstring issue in the first half shortly before having a hand in Jarrod Bowen’s opening goal. However, as reported by The Guardian (on Twitter), football.london understands that Zouma suffered a knock in the game that is not thought to be a hamstring issue or a long-term injury.

That means that Zouma is unlikely to be involved against Derby County in the fourth round of the FA Cup on Monday night. Another player also set to miss out is goalkeeper Darren Randolph.

football.london understands that Randolph is currently having a medical ahead of joining Premier League rivals Bournemouth.

The 35-year-old, whose contract is set to expire in the summer, is close to completing a move to join the Cherries.

Since returning to the club in 2020 from Middlesbrough, Randolph has made just ten senior appearances, having not played a competitive match since May 2021. He is currently third choice behind Lukasz Fabianski and Alphonse Areola, with young prospects Krisztian Hegyi and Joseph Anang in line to replace Randolph, should his move go through.

Both Hegyi and Anang were pictured in training at Rush Green on Wednesday, with Anang’s loan spell at Derby coming to an end on Monday.
