Kurt Russell open to return for potential Monarch season 2

Kurt Russell open to returning for Monarch: Legacy of Monsters season 2.

Monarch: Legacy of Monsters star Kurt Russell recently addressed the possibility of a second season for the popular Monsterverse series. In an interview with The Wrap, Russell discussed his openness to returning for season 2 and shared his thoughts on the show's captivating finale.

Monarch: Legacy of Monsters primarily follows the Randa family and their connection to the enigmatic organization known as Monarch. The series also delves into the origins of Monarch in the 1950s, showcasing a younger Lee Shaw, Keiko, and Bill Randa as they establish the organization. The show concluded its first season with a cliffhanger ending, leaving viewers eager to know if there's more to come.

Russell expressed his willingness to discuss a potential return for season 2 if the show gets greenlit. However, he made it clear that the decision ultimately lies with those in charge. Regardless, Russell expressed his satisfaction with the show's final shot, stating that it had a powerful impact as a closing image.

Interestingly, Russell's openness to returning is notable because his character, Lee Shaw, remains in an uncertain fate at the conclusion of season 1. Nevertheless, considering Shaw's character history of returning from assumed death, it is possible for him to make a comeback in season 2. However, even if Shaw doesn't physically return, there are plenty of other exciting plot points and characters to explore in a potential second season.

The finale of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters featured a two-year time jump, leaving room to delve into the events that unfolded during that period outside the Hollow Earth. Additionally, the show needs to address how Cate Randa, May, and Keiko adjusted to the lost time. Furthermore, the alliance between APEX and Monarch raises questions about APEX's intentions and the implications of Monarch teaming up with their enemy.

Furthermore, the revelation that Apex and Monarch are on Skull Island suggests that the focus of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters' second season might shift to Kong instead of Godzilla. Although the show has not been officially renewed, showrunner Chris Black remains optimistic about its future. In addition to Kurt Russell, actors Mari Yamamoto and Kiersey Clemons have also expressed their optimism about the show and the future of their characters.

All episodes of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters are currently available for streaming on Apple TV+. The show, set in the Legendary MonsterVerse, follows two siblings as they follow in their father's footsteps to uncover the truth about their family legacy. Spanning three decades, it explores the origins of Monarch and uncovers a captivating story in the sci-fi action genre.

With its thrilling finale and numerous unresolved storylines, Monarch: Legacy of Monsters has left fans eagerly awaiting news of a potential second season. As we eagerly await any announcements, let's hope that the show's impactful finale and dedicated fan base will contribute to getting it renewed for another exciting chapter in the Monsterverse.
