Kurt Cobain's daughter Frances Bean's poignant message on 25th anniversary of death

Kurt Cobain 's daughter sent out a poignant message on the 25th anniversary of his death.

The Nirvana rocker took his own life on April 5, 1994.

Frances Bean marked the anniversary by telling people it's okay to ask for help if you need it.

Frances, the only child of Kurt and Courtney Love, took to her Instagram story last night to share a sweet black and white photograph of her father as a child.

She also spoke out about mental health.

The 26-year-old model and artist said: "If you are struggling with your mental health and need someone to talk to please do not be afraid to reach out to your friends, neighbors, parents, counselors, teachers or even strangers on the internet.

"Needing help is not a weakness. Lets end the stigma and shame towards the stuggle with mental health."

She also shared the number for the National suicide prevention lifeline in the US, 1-800-273-8255.

Kurt was 27 when he took his own life.

His body was discovered three days later by an electrician at his cottage, which overlooked Lake Washington in Seattle.

A gun and a suicide note were found at the scene.

Kurt had written: "The fact is I can't fool you. The worst crime I can think of would be to rip people off by faking it."

It was later ruled that he had been dead for at least 34 hours.
