Kubrat Pulev will knockout Anthony Joshua due to his 'suspect chin' says promoter

Anthony Joshua's "very, very suspect chin" will give Kubrat Pulev a great opportunity to knockout him out, claims Tyson Fury's promoter Bob Arum.

The British fighter was due to take on Pulev in June, but the coronavirus pandemic has put that bout in doubt.

Joshua regained his titles in December when he avenged his defeat to Andy Ruiz.

But Arum sees his defeat to the Mexican as an ominous sign given Ruiz's lack of knockout power and reckons Pulev has an "even better chance" of getting one over on Joshua.

He told iFL TV : “He has no chin. I knew Andy Ruiz prior to his first fight with Joshua. Every one of Ruiz’s fights except the one previous to that [Alexander Dimitrenko] was promoted by us.

“So we are experts on Andy Ruiz. We know how good he is, what he lacks, we know he has fast hands, a pretty good chin, but he’s not a knockout guy.

"Trust me, look at his record. He fought a lot of ham & eggers and he couldn’t knock them out.

“The fact that he knocked out Joshua the way he did indicates to me that Joshua’s chin is very, very suspect. If you compare Ruiz with Pulev, Pulev is a much better fighter than Andy Ruiz.

"Therefore, what I’ve said is if Ruiz can knock Joshua out, then Pulev has an even better chance to knock him out."

Should Joshua overcome Pulev and Tyson Fury get the better of Deontay Wilder for a second time then an all-British contest is likely.

The boxing world has long clamoured for the pair to look horns in the ring and may finally be granted their wish.

There are even suggestions that the Covid-19 outbreak could see the fight happen sooner than originally planned.
