KTM Won't Cover Airfare, But You Could 'Win' a Trip By Buying a Dirt Bike

The Erzbergrodeo hard enduro dirt bike race is one of those events that's on my bucket list. Whether it's just as a viewer or as a participant, I desperately need to get to Austria one of these days to check out the event in person.

If you've never seen it, I highly suggest heading over to YouTube and searching the event highlights or POV videos taken on raceday, as they're some of the wildest around. I'd personally probably end up in the hospital with multiple concussions. But that wouldn't stop me from trying to finish at the very least.

And now, three lucky KTM customers have the chance to win VIP tickets to the event. But there's a doozy of a catch. Well, actually, there are two doozies.

To enter, not only do you have to buy a new 2025 EXC dirt bike between April 16 to May 16, but you'll also have to pay for your own travel. I'm not sure this is a great deal, KTM? But then again, the brand isn't exactly made of money these days...

According to the brand, "From 16 April to 16 May, anyone who purchases a new 2025 KTM EXC in participating countries* can enter a global draw to win an all-access trip to the toughest one-day Hard Enduro race on the planet. KTM will select three lucky winners, each of whom will receive two VIP Gold Passes for the Red Bull Erzbergrodeo, 29 May – 1 June, along with a once-in-a-lifetime behind-the-scenes experience curated by KTM Factory Racing."

Those participating countries include those within the European Union, United Kingdom, Norway, Iceland, and Switzerland. You'll note that the United States is not included in this which makes the whole no airfare clause slightly easier to swallow, but that still puts some cost onto the consumer who already shelled out a bunch of cash for one of KTM's two- or four-stroke EXCs

However, if you're still interested, or were already planning on purchasing an EXC, if you're one of the lucky three winners, you'll get  2 VIP Gold Passes (for only one day), an entry ticket for the whole weekend, accommodation for the event,  a helicopter stunt ride over the Iron Giant, a private Erzberg Tour with KTM pro Mani Lettenbichler, a meet & greet with Red Bull KTM Factory Racing stars Mani Lettenbichler, Josep Garcia, Daniel Sanders and Carson Brown, and an exclusive tour of the KTM Factory Racing enduro and Dakar trucks."

Honestly, I know KTM is cash-strapped, but this is some weird marketing for a brand with over a year's worth of bikes just sitting. Instead of shelling out for something like this, why not just, I don't know, have a sale? Like a good sale, not some "Here's $100 off!" sale. But what do I know? I'm not some big-business brain board member.
