KT Tunstall wants people to eat more insects to save the planet

KT Tunstall believes western countries should add more insects to their menus - to help save the planet.

The LA-based Fife rocker said in an Instagram live discussion about her travels: "When we were in Mexico City, our street team leader Alice ordered us guacamole and it was covered in grasshoppers.

"It was OK. I quite liked it but ... it's a little bit weird.

"But with the global situation and the ecology and environment suffering, I think it would be very helpful if us, in more tame western countries, started to think a little bit more about insects for protein.

"They are really high in protein and are much lower impact on the planet, and there's a huge supply."
