KT Rolster stun Gen.G to reach their first Worlds final

KT Rolster have defied all odds. The Korean side beat the tournament favorite Gen.G to continue their fairytale run at the League of Legends World Championship 2025.

After years of heartbreak and near misses, KT finally broke through on the biggest stage, making history by advancing to the Worlds finals for the first time in the organization’s history.

The first match established the chaotic tone of the series. KT Rolster claimed the win behind stellar plays from Bdd and Deokdam, though both teams struggled to maintain control throughout the game as the tempo kept shifting from one side to another. Gen.G took the next match with Ruler’s iconic Ezreal pick. They played slowly and methodically, as we’re used to seeing in the LCK, and the men in yellow dominated in the late game.

KT Rolster answered back decisively in match three, showcasing near-perfect coordination. Using objectives as bait, they drew Gen.G into fights and executed their strategy precisely. In the final game, KT Rolster showcased their drafting prowess again, leveraging creative off-meta picks alongside precise macro play and confident teamfighting to overwhelm Gen.G.

Even though Gen.G had dominated the LCK, winning multiple international trophies this year, they fell short when it mattered most. Even in the 2025 LCK season playoffs, KT Rolster managed to take a series away from Gen.G, sending them to the lower brackets. The trend continued in this match as KT Rolster made history on stage.

In a post-match interview, an emotional Bdd struggled to hold back tears. “Even right now, it feels like I’m still dreaming,” he said. “I am even dizzy, it’s so unreal to me. I don’t know.. I am just really happy, but it doesn’t feel like a reality to me yet.”

With a place in the finals, KT Rolster await their next opponents, either T1 or Top Esports, who play the semifinals tomorrow.
