KSW champ Mateusz Gamrot stepping in to face Magomed Mustafaev on Oct. 17

Magomed Mustafaev didn’t go without an opponent for long.

Not long after word filtered out that Renato Moicano had to drop out of their planned lightweight bout on Oct. 17, Mustafaev has a new foe, and an intriguing one to boot. MMA Junkie has learned Mustafaev will now face undefeated KSW lightweight and featherweight champion Mateusz Gamrot in the latter’s UFC debut.

Mustafaev (15-3 MMA, 3-2 UFC) has dropped two of his past three and is coming off a split decision loss to Brad Riddell in February. Prior to that, he scored a “Performance of the Night” finish over Rafael Fiziev.

Gamrot (17-0-0 MMA, 0-0 UFC) has torn things up on the European circuit, with five knockouts and four submission among his 17 career victories. Gamrot most recently defended his lightweight belt via unanimous decision against Marian Ziolkowski in the main event of KSW 54 in August.

The Oct. 17 card, which has yet to be named, features a highly anticipated bout between Brian Ortega and Chan Sung Jung in the main event.
