KSRelief, UNHCR Celebrate World Refugee Day

The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSRelief) and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) celebrated World Refugee Day to express solidarity with the refugees, celebrate their resilience and appreciate the communities they welcome and host

On this occasion, Advisor at the Royal Court, General Supervisor of King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al-Rabeeah, said that the celebrating the International Day of Refugees comes in coordination with the UNHCR, to highlight the strategic partnership between UNHCR and the Center, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.

More than 70 million refugees and displaced people live outside their own countries and communities, and unfortunately most of them are from countries such as Palestine, Syria, Somalia, Southern Sudan and Myanmar.

Dr. Al-Rabeeah stressed the keenness of the Kingdom to support refugees, whether they are inside Saudi Arabia where they are treated as visitors, or in other countries where we support them with the care, food and medicine they need, pointing out that Saudi Arabia has carried out more than 129 humanitarian projects in amounts exceeding $170 million for refugees living in other countries.

According to SPA, the visitors living in the Kingdom from Yemen, Syria and Myanmar exceeded one million, make up 5% of the population of Saudi Arabia, cost the Saudi Government $9.8 billion.
