KSI has KO win against Joe Fournier overturned to "no decision" after illegal elbow

KSI's win against Joe Fournier has been overturned to a "no decision" after he knocked out the nightclub owner with an illegal elbow.

The YouTube boxer competed in his second fight of the calendar year last weekend against Fournier having previously knocked out content creator FaZe Temperrr in January. KSI had Fournier on wobbly legs in the second round after landing a big overhand right and he found the stoppage just moments later, but instant reply proved the fight-ending blow came in the form of an elbow.

Fournier lodged an appeal with the PBA [Professional Boxing Association] earlier this week and the governing body have now overturned the result to a no decision. A statement from the PBA read: "Even though KSI was winning the fight, the blow with the forearm/elbow has been found to be accidental and the obvious disappointment that will follow, it has been decided that the contest is declared a no decision in accordance with the rules."

KSI initially downplayed the elbow strike but went on to admit that it tarnished his win, writing on Twitter : "I worked very hard for this fight and had an intense and gruelling camp. There’s no better feeling than being in that ring and having my hand raised in front of my loyal and amazing fans who I appreciate so much. Unfortunately the victory which was inevitable no matter what, is tarnished and I hate that. It sucks!

"After landing my overhand he was pretty much out on his feet and I went for a short right hook as Joe clinched me and fell into me. I landed that hook and my glove made contact but appears to have been followed by unintentional contact with my forearm. I’m gutted that it’s not as clean a win as I wanted and it feels like it diminishes my hard work with my trainers."

The PBA's statement overturning the KSI vs Joe Fournier result (PBA)

Fournier was hoping for the result to be overturned to a disqualification win in his favour as he alleged that KSI landed the strike intentionally, a claim the YouTuber boxer dismissed as " ludicrous ". KSI has refuted a potential rematch against Fournier as he wants to move on from the result to pursue a fight with Love Island star Tommy Fury in the hopes of setting up a clash against bitter rival Jake Paul.

In an exclusive interview with Mirror Fighting, Fury's dad John hinted his son will face KSI before the end of the year. "The crowd wants it, Tommy wants it and KSI wants it. It is just getting together, shaking hands and signing the contracts. I am then off and then get my man in his training camp and let's get at it," he said.
