Krysten Ritter says #MeToo movement reminded her of past experiences she 'shoved under the rug'

Krysten Ritter feels "f _ king enraged" in the wake of the #MeToo movement.

The actress, who portrays a female superhero on the Netflix series "Jessica Jones," told Harper's Bazaar on Wednesday that #MeToo made her re-evaluate past experiences in her career.

"'It does make you do an emotional inventory of your career, and your life, and all of a sudden you're f _ king enraged," she said.

"You look back and kind of hate yourself for giggling through it, or for not knowing what to say," Ritter continued. "I went back and remembered things that I'd totally forgotten about, just shoved under the rug."

The actress did not elaborate any further.

Ritter explained that on her Netflix series, her character would absolutely not censor herself _ and stands up against being treated poorly.

"I mean, every time a man's come into a room and shaken everybody else's hand and then told you that you look pretty? These things make us insane, and what's satisfying in playing Jessica is that she really does get to explode," she explained.

The series' showrunner, Melissa Rosenberg, told the Daily News earlier this month that the #MeToo angle is strong during the second season.

"The truth is that all of these issues that we've been dealing with with #MeToo, these are things that those of us who are telling stories, have been telling these stories," Rosenberg told The News.

"You can find these stories dating way back. They build upon each other and with every one of those stories and every one of those characters, it widens the cultural perspective. The #MeToo movement doesn't happen without those decades of slow enlightenment."

The series made a point of only hiring female directors for its second season, which returned on Netflix on March 8.
