Kristoffer Tonnessen to Hibs transfer latest as IK Start confirm new bid for star left-back

Hibs are believed to have launched a second bid for Norwegian left-back Kristoffer Tonnessen.

The Easter Road side are looking to wrap up their transfer business before the window closes and aren't expecting many new arrivals.

But Jack Ross is keen on a new left-back while speculation continues to swirl around Josh Doig.

The teenager has been linked heavily with a move to the English Premier League and that could still materialise before next Friday's deadline.

And that has left him looking at potential contingency plans, with Norwegian Tonnessen high on the agenda.

It was reported earlier in the month that a bid was rejected but it's now believed Hibs have launched a second offer.

IK Start director Terje Marcussen fuelled the fire when he confirmed a fresh offer had arrived for a player who had already had one bid rejected.

He said: "There has been an offer for a player – a new offer.

"We are starting to get closer to something that means that there can be an agreement, but I don’t want to say anything other than there has been a new bid."

The Edinburgh Evening News say Marcussen was in fact referring to a Hibs bid for captain Tonnessen.

The 23-year-old has played every minute of their season so far, scoring twice and registering three assists.
