Kristoffer Klaesson transfer update from Valerenga chief and Victor Orta admission

Victor Orta has been chasing goalkeeper Kristoffer Klaesson for two years and wowed Valerenga chiefs with his transfer negotiations.

The 20-year-old stopper has emerged as one of the prime candidates for replacing Kiko Casilla, who has departed Leeds United for Elche.

The Whites are understood to be keen to bring a new face in as number two behind Illan Meslier, but with the ability to keep the Frenchman on his toes.

Valerenga’s head coach Dag-Eilev Fagermo has previously discussed the link between Klaesson and Leeds, but today there are fresh comments from the club’s sporting director.

Speaking to Dagsavisen, a daily newspaper in Norway, Jørgen Ingebrigtsen has praised the way Orta has handled United’s pursuit.

According to Sport Witness’s translation, Ingebrigtsen said: “The best clubs, and the best environments, work long-term with player recruitment.

“There, Victor is one of the brightest in the subject. Leeds arrived on the field in the summer of 2019 and have been very good. We have had a good dialogue with them.

“They obviously saw something of Kristoffer early that they liked, and have been good at updating themselves on developments.”
