Newcastle United's interest in Celtic defender Kristoffer Ajer is growing stronger after Magpies scouts attended Sunday's derby at Ibrox, according to a report.
Ajer was on the receiving end of a 4-1 hammering at the hands of Steven Gerrard's Rangers, the last of five meetings between the sides this season.
On the same day a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Arsenal means Steve Bruce's side are not yet safe from relegation but it would take a monumental turnaround for West Brom or Fulham to overhaul the Toon.
But regardless of any remote threat of the drop the Scottish Sun have claimed that talent-spotters from the English Premier League club turned up in Govan to run the rule over the Norwegian centre-back.
It's also said Norwich - promoted back to the top flight down south under Daniel Farke - are weighing up a move for Ajer to bolster their bid to stay in the Premier League, having been relegated in their first season back last time around.
Ajer is in the last year of his Parkhead deal alongside Odsonne Edouard with Celtic preparing for a summer battle to keep both stars.
The 23-year-old performed badly on Sunday however, appearing to duck out the way of Alfredo Morelos' strike to send the champions 2-1 up after Kemar Roofe's opener was cancelled out by Odsonne Edouard.
Callum McGregor was sent off for the Hoops and the day got worse for John Kennedy's men when Roofe added his second before Jermain Defoe climbed off the bench for the final blow.
