Kristoffer Ajer's reported Celtic asking price revealed as clubs circle Norwegian defender

Celtic are reportedly holding out for £13million before they’ll let Kristoffer Ajer leave.

Ajer is keen to move on and has the likes of Norwich City, Newcastle United and Bayer Leverkusen chasing him, while RB Leipzig have also been credited with an interest.

Celtic will reluctantly let him depart with the Norwegian now in the final year of his contract and could leave the Scottish Premiership runners up for nothing next summer.

A move now would suit both parties, but it’s understood that Ajer is frustrated at the club demanding such a fee considering his contract situation and believes it could be putting potential suitors off.

And now German outlet Kicker report that £13million is the figure the Hoops have set for the want-away defender.

They claims that €15million will be enough to land the Norway international, and cite Jeremie Frimpong’s move to Bayer last January - usually a more expensive window - but acknowledge there is more competition for Ajer’s signature.

The 23-year-old admitted while on international duty that he expected to leave the club this summer after seven years at Parkhead.

"It is clear that something will happen this summer," he said. "This is best for both sides."

A replacement could already be on the way with Croatian Under 21 international Mario Vuskovic understood to be nearing a switch to Celtic.

The 19-year-old centre back will cost around £3million and could become Ange Postecoglou ’s first signing as early as this week.
