Kristoffer Ajer's Celtic absence explained as Ange Postecoglou admits 'issues'

Ange Postecoglou admits Kristoffer Ajer still has 'some issues' to be sorted out as he waits for his first action of pre-season.

The wantaway defender is yet to kick a ball this summer after returning to pre-season with a knock and his manager admits it's still causing him problems.

That's a worry ahead of next week's Champions League opener and Celtic have just one more pre-season game before the European adventure begins against FC Midtjylland.

If Ajer doesn't play in that then it makes it highly unlikely he'll line up at centre back next week and that will leave the Hoops with some issues unless they get the Carl Starfelt deal over the line in time.

Even then, Postecoglou will want Ajer fit and ready for the Celtic Park clash but he admits they'll have to wait and see what will happen with both him and Odsonne Edouard, who also missed out on the game.

The Celtic boss said: “Odsonne still hasn’t got out on the park yet. Kris has still got some issues. So I’ll just have to wait and see how they go in the next few days.

“I know it doesn’t sound much but six days is still a fair bit of time to do a few things.

“We are just going to concentrate the day-to-day proposition.”
