Kristoffer Ajer in transfer bombshell as Celtic star’s agent spells out exit strategy

Celtic have been told Kristoffer Ajer will leave in the summer.

Despite the 21-year-old defender having two years remaining on his contract, his agent has revealed it is inevitable the player will leave Scotland at the end of the season.

Ajer was linked with big-money transfers in January to clubs in England and Europe – including Brendan Rodgers ’ new club Leicester .

But the Norwegian was adamant in the last window he has no desire to quit Celtic .

However, Ajer’s representative Tore Pedersen has now blown a hole in the centre-back’s claims.

Pedersen said: "He will not extend his contract with Celtic and will leave this summer.

"There are several clubs who are interested, but I can't go into their names. There are many who have followed him for a long period.

"There are also clubs who would like to have him, but who cannot afford it.

"There is generally great interest in Kristoffer."

In January, Ajer made clear he saw his long-term future at Parkhead, despite the transfer speculation.

He said: "I’m really happy now, I’ve got two and a half years at Celtic and I’m happy with it. I love playing for Celtic.

"All talk of contracts is between my agent and the club and I’m just concentrated on day-to-day work and trying to be the best footballer I can."

But it now appears he could be Celtic's latest big money departure.
