Kristoffer Ajer 'distinctly unhappy' as Celtic play transfer hardball with Norwich and Bayer Leverkusen

Kristoffer Ajer is "distinctly unhappy" after Celtic knocked back £10m offers from Norwich City and Bayer Leverkusen, according to a report.

The Norwegian centre-back has expressed his desire to move on from Parkhead this summer as he enters the final year of his contract.

Ajer stated he believes it's best if he departs before next season to allow Celtic to secure a fee for his transfer.

But The Athletic report the club have rejected eight-figure bids that could have taken the player to the Premier League or Bundesliga.

And it's claimed the development has come as a real blow to the 23-year-old, with Norwich said to be prepared to press on with other targets.

If no agreement for his exit is reached before the close of the transfer window, Ajer will be free to sign a pre-contract with another club in January before leaving for free in summer 2022.

Celtic appear determined to maximise profit on their prized assets after Leicester City's move for Odsonne Edouard broke down.

Foxes and former Parkhead boss Brendan Rodgers is now pursuing RB Leipzig's Patson Daka instead.

Ryan Christie, whose Celtic contract expires in January, has been linked with Ligue 1 sides Nice and Monaco this week.
