Kristoffer Ajer 'close' to Brentford transfer as Celtic star set for £13.5m Premier League move

Celtic defender Kristoffer Ajer is closing in on a move to Premier League new boys Brentford, according to a report.

The Norwegian defender made clear his desire to leave Celtic Park earlier this summer but has since watched on as Norwich City and Newcastle United were priced out of a move.

Ajer has entered the final year of his contract and indicated it would be best for all parties if he moved on for a fee this summer.

And now The Telegraph report Brentford have agreed a £13.5million deal with Celtic to sign the 23-year-old after he was left out of manager Ange Postecoglou 's squad for Wednesday night's goalless draw with Bristol City in Wales.

The report states the fee and structure of payments has been finalised with the Parkhead club.

Celtic are closing in on a move for Rubin Kazan star Carl Starfelt, who could now become Ajer's replacement.

Postecoglou completed a move for Israeli winger Liel Abada on Wednesday as he continues to make his mark on a squad in transition.
