Kristoffer Ajer Celtic transfer exit stumbling block claim as clubs 'withdraw' from signing race

Kristoffer Ajer looks set to stay at Celtic due to the high price tag demanded by the club, according to reports.

The Norwegian defender was seemingly certain to leave Glasgow's east end with with the likes of Norwich, Newcastle and Bayer Leverkusen tracking the star

Ajer admitted while away on international duty that he hoped to leave the club this summer with just 12 months left on his contract.

TV2 report that nobody has met Celtic's asking price for the highly-rated centre-back of around £20million.

They note that Brentford are the latest club to be turned away by the Hoops hierarchy having put a bid of around £10million in for the 23-year-old.

The Norwegian outlet claim that "all clubs have withdrawn from the negotiations" following the hefty price tag being placed on Ajer.

The defender stated earlier this summer that he expected to be allowed to leave in this window but he now looks set to be a part of the Ange Postecoglou era.
