Kristin Chenoweth uses this surprisingly simple decor trick to bring the holidays alive in her home

Kristin Chenoweth.

The inimitable Kristin Chenoweth is synonymous with Christmas, so as the holiday grows increasingly closer, it's only natural to wonder how she dresses her home for the season.

While we would be forgiven for assuming Kristin's Christmas decorating process is both grand and complex, the reality is much simpler.

'When decorating for Christmas, whatever the size of the space, people often get stressed out. And why do they get stressed? Because they make things hard. Instead, look for things that are quick and easy,' Kristin says in an exclusive interview with H&G. Her solution?  Command hooks and strips that allow us to hang decorations instantly.

'One year, I didn't have time to do anything, and I put up a Charlie Brown Christmas tree and twinkle lights from Duane Reade, all hung by Command. It made life much simpler.'

'With Command products, it's meant to be easy. I'm not technical. I'm not good with tools. So, make things easy for yourself so you can focus on the things that really matter during this time.'

When looking for inspiration on how to decorate tastefully for Christmas, we inevitably look to displays such as those in Kristin's home. However, as she reminds us, we don't need a huge home to feel festive. Her advice similarly translates to small rooms, much like where she celebrated the holidays as an aspiring actress.

'When I first moved to New York, I lived in a one-room apartment with three other people. We had bunk beds, and we had one bathroom, one closet, and one little tiny railroad kitchen. It was tiny. But we were happy because we all wanted to be actors, and we were all auditioning and doing what we loved,' she says.

'In a small space, you still want to acknowledge it’s the holiday season, so just get something small. You can go to Rite Aid. You can go to Walgreens. You can go to Duane Reade and get something you love. Get a Charlie Brown Christmas tree, put up an advent calendar, or create a small Christmas village – something that makes you feel like you're celebrating the holidays. Just do something small, and it'll go a long way.'

As Kristin is such an advocate for Command, it comes as no surprise that she has collaborated with them to celebrate the 'magic merrymakers' who love to bring cheer to others during the holiday season. Together, they have launched a nationwide sweepstakes offering consumers a chance to win Command products and $25,000.

'It's really easy for your readers to know that all you have to do is follow Command on Instagram. And then step two, you tag a Merrymaker in the comments of the pinned post. Winners receive Command products as well as $25,000 cash, which comes in handy over the holidays,' she says.
