Kristian Thorstvedt keen to follow in father's footsteps as he reveals Tottenham transfer dream

Genk midfielder Kristian Thorstvedt has revealed that signing for Tottenham Hotspur is his ‘dream’.

The 22-year-old Norwegian star - who scored nine times in the Belgian top division last season and also registered three assists - has been linked with a move to Spurs in recent weeks.

His father, Erik Thorstvedt, spent eight years at Tottenham and established himself as the number one at White Hart Lane for much of that time.

Now it seems as though the youngster wants to follow in his father's footsteps and play for Spurs.

Fabio Paratici has already been busy behind the scenes since arriving at the club earlier this year, helping to bring in five new players in Emerson Royal, Cristian Romero, Byran Gil, Pierliugi Gollini and Pape Matar Sarr – who has been loaned back to Metz in Ligue 1 for the upcoming season.

But it seems as though the Italian could be busy in the future, too, and Thorstvedt could be someone of interest.

Spurs are believed to have spoken to the player’s agent Jim Solbakken about a possible transfer, although nothing concrete is yet set in stone.

However, after what Thorstvedt has said about a potential transfer himself, Tottenham surely have every chance of eventually securing a deal.

“Of course, things concerning me are brought to my attention and I have an agent who keeps me informed,” he told Norwegian outlet Dagsavisen.

“But at the moment I don't really care much about it. In this transfer window I think it was beneficial for my development to stay put in Belgium. But we don't know what will happen in the future.”

Thorstvedt continued by explaining that he has not really given too much thought about a potential sale in January but he would one day like to play in England, and Spurs would be his ideal destination.

“That has always been in my dreams, but a lot must happen for it to become a reality. I try not to think much about it.

“It has always been Spurs for me.- I am happy in Belgium. I have lots of games to look forward to in the league, the domestic cup and in the european cup.”

It’s still very much early days with this transfer, but it’s certainly one that has potential in the future.
