Kristi Noem, Corey Lewandowski Split Rumours: Alleged Affair Ends After ICE Barbie's DHS Removal

Kristi Noem's alleged affair with longtime Donald Trump ally Corey Lewandowski has reportedly ended, with sources claiming the relationship collapsed soon after the former Department of Homeland Security secretary was removed from her post earlier this month.

For starters, rumours about Kristi Noem and Lewandowski have swirled around Republican circles for years. Both were said to be involved in an extramarital relationship while still married to other people, a claim that neither has publicly confirmed.

Lewandowski, a former Trump campaign manager, later resurfaced inside the Department of Homeland Security as a 'special government employee,' positioning himself close to Noem as one of her most trusted advisers. Their professional alliance, and the personal speculation around it, became a recurring subplot to her tenure in the administration.

The latest claims come from celebrity columnist Rob Shuter, who reported that Lewandowski walked away once Noem no longer held power inside DHS. Citing unnamed Washington insiders, Shuter alleged that 'without the job and the access, he isn't interested,' suggesting the split less as a personal rift and more as the end of a political transaction.

Nothing in these accounts has been independently verified, and there has been no official comment from Noem, Lewandowski, or their representatives, so the details should be taken with a grain of salt.

Kristi Noem, Corey Lewandowski And The Politics Of 'Access'

According to Shuter's Naughty But Nice column, Lewandowski had become one of the most influential figures inside DHS during Noem's time at the department. Though his formal title was that of a special government employee, sources described him as operating like a backroom power broker, helping to manage operations and wielding substantial influence behind the scenes.

One Washington insider painted a striking picture of Lewandowski's confidence in his own impunity. 'He told people he could do whatever he wanted because Trump would pardon him,' the source claimed.

The same insider cast Kristi Noem's alleged relationship with Lewandowski as less about romance and more about leverage. 'Corey loves proximity to power. When Kristi had it, he was glued to her. Now that she doesn't, he's gone,' the informant said, adding that 'the relationship was always about power. Without the job and the access, Corey isn't interested anymore.'

The reported fallout between Noem and Lewandowski dovetails with growing criticism of how they handled their time at DHS. Shuter's account suggests both left the department 'under suspicion,' though it does not spell out the nature of those concerns.

The rumour has also revived earlier questions about Kristi Noem's marriage to Bryon Noem. Previous reports have claimed that he 'severed' ties with his wife amid the cheating allegations. However, those claims remain unproven, and there has been no definitive public statement from Bryon Noem addressing the state of their relationship.

Lewandowski, for his part, has long been a lightning rod in Republican politics. His alleged boast that he could do 'whatever he wanted' because of a presumed Trump pardon, if accurately relayed, speaks to a broader concern about how power is perceived to operate around former administration figures.

Kristi Noem's New Role And The Road Ahead

Meanwhile, even as the rumours about Corey Lewandowski swirl, Kristi Noem is not exiting the stage. Following the announcement of her firing in early March, Trump moved her into a newly created position as special envoy for the Shield of the Americas, a security initiative focused on the Western Hemisphere.

In this role, Noem has said she will work closely with the Secretary of State and the Secretary of Defense on efforts to dismantle the cartels that move drugs into the United States, effectively recasting herself as a regional security point person rather than the public face of domestic enforcement.

She officially remains DHS secretary until 31 March 2026, when Senator Markwayne Mullin is expected to take over the department, giving her a brief transition window in which she straddles both the outgoing job and the new envoy role.

At a summit for the Shield of the Americas in Florida, Noem publicly thanked President Trump for the opportunity to stay within his administration and defended her record at DHS, insisting that the department had secured the border and neutralised public safety threats despite the storm of criticism.

Away from Washington, speculation has grown in South Dakota about whether Kristi Noem might convert the notoriety into a new electoral run. Political chatter has focused on the possibility that she could challenge Senator Mike Rounds in the 2026 Republican primary, a move that would test her appeal with GOP voters after the bruising DHS saga. Polling and party insiders quoted in national outlets suggest Rounds would start as the favourite, while still taking the prospect of a Noem challenge seriously enough to prepare.

Nothing about that Senate race is settled, and nothing about the Noem–Lewandowski story has been verified beyond what anonymous sources have told journalists and gossip writers.
