Kristen Stewart walks Cannes red carpet barefoot seemingly to protest high-heels rule

Kristen Stewart is letting her feet do the talking.

The actress kicked off her black Louboutins on the "BlacKkKlansman" red carpet at the Cannes film festival Monday and walked the photo line barefoot in what appeared to be a protest of the heels-only rule.

The antiquated rule came to a head in 2015 after several women, wearing rhinestone flats, were turned away from a screening of "Carol."

A year later, 28-year-old Stewart pointedly paired black sneakers with a silvery dress before slipping into heels just in time for photos.

"Things have to change immediately," she told reporters at the time.

"It has become really obvious that if (a man and I) were walking the red carpet together and someone stopped me and said, 'Excuse me, young lady, you're not wearing heels. You cannot come in.' Then (I'm going to say), 'Neither is my friend. Does he have to wear heels?' It can work both ways. It's just like you simply cannot ask me to do something that you are not asking him. I get the black-tie thing but you should be able to do either version _ flats or heels."
