Kristen Stewart has expressed support for Robert Pattinson after he was cast as Batman in Matt Reeves’ forthcoming film.
Speaking to Variety on the red carpet at the Toronto International Film Festival this weekend, Stewart said her former boyfriend and Twilight co-star was ideal for the role.
“I feel like he’s the only guy that could play that part,” she said. “I’m so happy for him. It’s crazy. I’m very, very happy about that. I heard that and I was like, ‘Oh man!’ It’s awesome.”
She also agreed that Pattinson has “the perfect cheekbones” to play the role.
The British actor faced a minor backlash when his role was revealed, but the main drama was around the fact that news of his casting leaked early.
Pattinson recently said he was “f***ing furious” when reports of his casting were revealed before he had even auditioned.
“Everyone was so upset,” he said. “Everyone was panicking from my team. I sort of thought that had blown up the whole thing.”
“It was terrifying,” he added. “I was like, oh f***. Does that screw me because [Waner Bros] are so intent on secrecy?”
Stewart is set to star opposite Naomi Scott and Ella Balinska in the forthcoming reboot of Charlie’s Angels, which was directed by Elizabeth Banks.
