Kristen Stewart's Princess Diana gown took 1,034 hours to put together

Hollywood actress Kristen Stewart's moving portrayal of late Princess of Wales, Princess Diana in the upcoming movie 'Spencer' has the world talking. The trailer has dropped and it's breaking the internet. While Stewart underwent a lot of training to nail Princess Diana's mannerisms, the team has surely put in a lot of effort in designing the actor's wardrobe, and each garment will remind you of the late princess. But it's the ivory gown that has most people talking. Princess. Princess Diana wore an Emanuel Gown for the James Bond Premiere and the same gown has been reportedly replicated by Chanel for Stewart.

The poster of the movie has Stewart hiding her face in an embellished ivory off-shoulder gown and according to a report published in Vogue Paris, the dress by Chanel is a recreation of a Spring/Summer 1988 Haute Couture show gown. It is an evening gown dished out in organza and features gold and silver sequins on the bodice that form fine floral branches.

What makes the gown stand out is its neckline which is adorned with pleated tulle flounce. It has been highlighted with sequins and a satin band, according to the label. And, that's not all a satin bow has also been added to the dress.

But the gown has a great story behind it. The embroidery that was originally created by François Lesage, a French couture embroiderer known around the world for his exotic embroidery, took almost 1,034 hours for work, including 700 working hours for the embroidery alone.

For those who want to know more about the movie, the film is based around a weekend in December 1991 when Princess Diana joined the royal family for Christmas festivities and decided to end her marriage with Prince Charles. Spencer premieres at the Venice Film Festival 2021.
