Kristaps Porzingis undergoes surgery to repair torn ACL

Kristaps Porzingis underwent surgery to repair a torn ACL in his left knee Tuesday morning, the Knicks announced. No timetable for a return has been provided yet.

The general rehab and recovery is anywhere from nine months to more than a year.

The surgery was performed by Dr. David Altchek and Dr. Answorth Allen at the Hospital for Special Surgery.

Porzingis suffered the season-ending injury last Tuesday after dunking over Milwaukee forward Giannis Antetokounmpo. He landed awkwardly and immediately clutched the back of his leg.

The 22-year-old Porzingis was named to his first All-Star team this season. He played in 48 games, averaging a team-best 22.6 points and NBA-leading 2.40 blocks.
