Kristaps Porzingis' MRI results on injured ankle come back negative, is day-to-day

The Knicks appear to have dodged a unicorn-sized bullet.

MRI results for Kristaps Porzingis, who left Wednesday's game against the Heat with a sprained ankle, came back negative on Thursday, the Daily News has learned.

It's a huge sigh of relief for both Porzingis and the Knicks, who have relied heavily on the Latvian, who has averaged 25.8 points per game this season.

Early reports Wednesday night during the game were encouraging, especially given the ugly sight of Porzingis' ankle being contorted when it was stepped on by Miami's Justise Winslow.

The Knicks said that Porzingis was available to return if necessary Wednesday, but he never did, likely in large part to the Knicks blowing out the Heat, 115-86.
