Not only did Kris Dunn not make his season debut Thursday night after some optimism earlier in the week, now there's a chance he could miss Saturday as well.
"He still has soreness when he uses that left hand. It's pretty painful," coach Fred Hoiberg said of one of the building blocks for the future. "He doesn't feel like he can pass well. You don't want to be out there thinking and right now, that's what he's doing."
Dunn suffered an open dislocation of his left index finger Oct. 6. The team estimated his absence at two to four weeks.
"Once he gets back, he's going to have to understand there probably is going to be some pain involved," Hoiberg said. "The important thing is the tendon is intact. There are no broken bones in there. It's just the mental hurdle."
The Bulls have three off days after Saturday, which could point to Dunn's debut coming Nov. 1 in Miami.
Paul Zipser also sat with a right knee contusion suffered in Wednesday's practice. Denzel Valentine made his first NBA start.
