Kris Commons makes Celtic transfer recommendation as he urges Hoops to sign 'a Troy Deeney'

Kris Commons has urged Celtic to sign a striker in the Troy Deeney mould.

The former Hoops playmaker believes Neil Lennon needs a frontman who can offer a different dynamic.

Despite the starting return of Odsonne Edouard, who missed the previous clash with Rangers in the Betfred Cup Final, Celtic were outplayed by their rivals for long periods.

And Commons maintains they would benefit from a backup striker in the vein of Watford's powerhouse captain.

He told the Daily Mail : "If Celtic can keep Edouard fit, then they have every chance of winning the league again.

"But I do think it may be worth Neil Lennon going out and getting a striker in the mould of a Troy Deeney.

"Or someone with blistering pace who can come off the bench because the substitutes are not making a difference to the dynamic of this Celtic team."

Celtic are set to resume talks with Slovan Bratislava over £5million-rated striker Andaz Sporar in the coming days.

The 25-year-old Slovenian has turned heads across Europe this term with 20 goals in 26 appearances across all competitions.

Five of those strikes have come in his six Europa League outings.

Sporar's prolific form has also attracted the attention of Dynamo Kiev and Bristol City.
