Kris Bryant hits double in return as Cubs roll past Phillies, 7-1

PHILADELPHIA _ Kris Bryant was activated from the disabled list Saturday night and hit a double in his second at-bat and added a single as the Cubs pulled away to a 7-1 win over the Phillies at Citizens Bank Park.

Bryant, who had not played since July 23 because of left shoulder inflammation, pulled his double down the third-base line to advance Anthony Rizzo to third base.

Kyle Schwarber followed with a triple that caromed high off the center-field wall to score Rizzo and Bryant.

Bryant struck out in his first at-bat in the first against Zach Eflin, but that came after the Cubs scored twice. Daniel Murphy led off with a double. Javier Baez followed with an infield hit, and a throwing error by Asdrubal Cabrera scored Murphy and advanced Baez to third.

Ben Zobrist pulled a double down the left-field line with two outs to score Baez.

Ian Happ hit a solo homer in the seventh. Baez led an 11-hit attack with three hits, including an RBI single in the ninth. Pinch-hitter David Bote chipped in with an RBI double in the ninth.

Kyle Hendricks pitched six innings of six-hit ball to earn the win.
